A Thai landrace, its name meaning white gem, described in the old Thai cat treatises alongside the Korat and the Siamese and kept in royal households in Bangkok. Western breeding began after imports to the United States around 1999, with TICA taking the breed on for registration in 2009 and championship status arriving later.
